Chemo Chemo Chemo YUCK!

Liquid poison, injected directly into my veins? SIGN ME UP!

OK, so today I went to see Dr. Antonucci, M.D. today at Park West Tower. Yup you guessed it, I get to do chemotherapy! Yay me! I get to partake of the liquid poison every two weeks, and the best part? Well I get to have MORE than one chemo! How cool is THAT?  I will elaborate a little later on in this section of my blog on exactly what I will be taking and for how long. A general overview of my chemo is basically this. I will be doing chemo of various types for the next 14 weeks. Dr. Antonucci, M.D. decided that he " wanted to hit me with everything but the kitchen sink" so I believe that's what he's going to do. It's not going to be easy at all because he's doing so much so fast with the poison of choice. He is wanting to ensure that I do not have a re-occurrence of my breast cancer. He did mention that if I was over 50 he really wouldn't bother with all this mess because I would have a lot shorter life span being much older than I do now, sooooo chemo here we go!

Oh, and for those who are easily confused, I will be referring to "chemo" as poison from here on out in this section of my blog for amusement purposes.  I gotta have something to laugh at right so why not call it poison?

OK ... so a day or so has passed since I wrote about chemo being poison. A good friend of mine said that I should actually call the chemo my own personal poison cocktail! Sooo guess what? Chemo is now going to be referred to as poison cocktail from here on out on this page.

Here is a list of the poison cocktails that he has planned out so far :

These treatments will last anywhere from 2-2 1/2 hours each. I will be doing these sets of treatments for a length of 8 weeks which translates into 4 treatments in total.

Every two weeks I will be getting a healthy dose of some red junk called Adriamycin(r). Other names for this drug are Rubex(r)

Every two weeks I will be getting a healthy dose of Cytoxan(r). Other names for this drug are  Neosar(r)

Every two weeks 24 hours or so following my two wonderful injections of my favorite poisons, I will be given a shot to boost my white blood cell counts in the bone marrow. This one because I'm getting hit with everything but the kitchen sink. This drug is called Neulasta(tm). Other names for this drug are G-CSF, Granlocyte-Colony Stimulating Factor.

These treatments will last anywhere from 3-3 1/2 hours each. I will be doing these sets of treatments for a length of 6 weeks which translates into 2 treatments in total.

After I have done about 8 weeks of these wonderful poison cocktails, I get to swap things up and move on to something different. I will then every three weeks be given another drug called Paclitaxel. Other names for this drug are Taxol(r) and Onxal(tm).

Following this three week poison, I will have to continue on my shot of Neulasta(tm) 24 hours after each treatment.

Once I find some links on these drugs I will be posting them here on the poison page for anyone who is curious. I know I am and I have the information on this stuff in my hands!
